Both teams come into this with 2 straight losses. Charlotte’s coming on the road at Appalachian State & FAU, and UNT’s at home to SMU and Southern Miss. The Mean Green do have 1 victory so far, a home win vs Houston Baptist (57-31). UNT’s defense has been torched in all 3 contests so far but seems it they will be getting a large amount of players back and ready for this one..

Game notes
What I’m watching
- Offensive line had a poor showing at FAU, how do they rebound? We have to do a better job establishing the run.
- Do we adjust more to a stacked box and let our wide receivers go make plays? Looking back at the FAU game, we ran quite a few times against a loaded box when we could have took shots at 1-on-1’s on the perimeter…
- Finish drives, or at least drive deeper into opponents territory. Cruz is a solid kicker, but we can’t rely on long FG attempts and win on the road.
- We held the ball for almost 40 minutes at FAU, can we dominate posession again?
- UNT has given up 45 points per game so far, however they are expected to get quite a few players back. Here’s to our offense getting on track.
What I’m watching
- Markees Watts, is he finally ready to go? Charlotte has 0 sacks through 8 quarters. A good sign was 6 hurries at FAU, but we have to find a way to get the QB on the ground.
- Romeo McKnight was a lights out in Boca Raton, can he sustain a high level of play?
- Austin Aune is now UNT’s clear cut QB1 and he’s old enough to make BYU blush (27). He hasn’t been overly accurate so far, lets see if our DBs can take advantage of that.
- After creating 3 turnovers in the opener we were unable to force any at FAU. Can the defense create some more havoc? UNT has a -5 turnover ratio.
- UNT will be without WR Jyaire Shorter, who torched us last year. We seemed to blitz more exotically at FAU and trusted teh DBs to make plays. Is that something we’ll repeat here in an effort to finally get ot the QB?
What I’m watching
- Connor Bowler and the punt team have been nothing short of stellar. Not mishaps so far, can it continue?
- Cruz missed 2 long FGs, does he get back on track?
