Charlotte may have faltered in Boca Raton Saturday evening, but after the game they struck gold on the trail in Florida as Safety Steven Parker committed to Will Healy and staff. Parker is a 6'2 DB from Tampa Bay Tech.
Parker is the 9th commitment to date for Charlotte in the 2021 class, and the first defensive back to commit in this cycle. Charlotte took in quite a few DB's in the 2020 class, so I expect them to be highly selective with any DB's they add this time around.
Worth noting that Healy had mentioned a while back about wanting to go after bigger Safeties, this is a sign of that.
After writing this intro, Charlotte has landed a 10th commitment. However, that is a quiet commitment until the recruit announces. Signs point to him announcing by end of the week.

Q&A with Parker
A49: Steven, congratulations on your commitment to Charlotte. What led you to choose Charlotte?
SP: What made me choose Charlotte was the way the coaches are all connected with me and the energy they bring to get everyone to match them plus the location Charlotte won’t be as far from home as any other schools.
A49: Who on the Charlotte staff was your primary recruiter? What's that relationship like?
SP: Coach Coop and I got on the phone for the first time and we already clicked from the jump. I was liking the bond we were already getting at.
A49: If you haven't been on campus, have you had any virtual visits? If yes, can you explain what that experience is like?
SP: Nah, I never got a chance to go to the campus in person but I did a tour on Facetime. I like all the new changes they are going to make the school, is going to look nice after all of its done!!
A49: In addition to Charlotte, what other programs have offered you?
SP: Other schools that have offered me was North Texas, Marshall, Campbell, NDSU and a little more
A49: What position did Charlotte recruit you at?
SP: I was recruited to play Safety over there, coach said he liked my size and speed, and would like to have a long safety back there
A49: When are you looking to enroll (mid year or Summer)? Do you know what you're looking to study in college yet?
SP: I’m looking to enroll around the summer time so I can hang with my Florida boys one last time. I plan on studying dental aid and later becoming an orthodontist.
A49: Any message you'd like to share with Niner Nation?
SP: LETS GET TO WORK BABY !!
