Q&A with Charlotte Football commit Jack Reynolds

by Agent49 | Oct 1, 2020 | Football

Jack Reynolds committed to Will Healy and Charlotte back on August 19th. At that time Reynolds had not yet been rated, now he's a ⭐⭐ prospect at 247sports. Reynolds, the younger brother of Charlotte's current starting Quarterback, plays his high school football in Mocksville, NC for Davie County High School.

As a Junior for the War Eagles, Reynolds tallied 78 receptions, 1049 yards and 7 receiving TDs. While watching his tape you can see a few traits you love in a WR: elevates well for the ball, not afriad to go over the middle and adjusts really well the ball to reel it in.

Charlotte is getting one of the hardest working young men that I have the privilege of coaching. Jack is always working his craft whether it is catching countless footballs, fine tuning his route running, working releases, or adding 20 lbs of muscle he is competing to be the best. He wants to be perfect! A true competitor! In the classroom he boasts a 4.0 gpa as well.

Q&A with Reynolds

A49: Jack, congratulations on your commitment to Charlotte. What led you to choose Charlotte?
JR: Knowing how my brother has loved playing for this team and how great the fan base is here in Charlotte, he hasn’t thought of it as a job, he still has fun playing football and I want that same experience as a player.

A49: Who on the Charlotte staff was your primary recruiter? What's that relationship like?
JR: Coach Healy is the guy that reached out to me and offered me. I have talked to Coach Carney, Coach Hardesty and Coach Hicks when he came to talk to me and a couple of teammate at my high school. Coach Healy obviously is a great coach but he’s even better of a man. Any player that he is or has coached, I know can go to him about anything and Coach Healy is going to be there for him.

A49: Obviously you have a unique relationship with the program as your older brother Chris is already here. What's it mean to you to have a chance to play with him here at Charlotte?
JR: Playing with Chris is a dream come true. He is the reason why I came to high school ready to play varsity as a freshman and play at a high level throughout my years here. He has pushed me like no one else not only for him, but wanting to see me succeed. He truly wants the best for me, and he is my biggest role model because of his unselfishness and how big of a leader he is. So I am beyond excited to be able to share the football field with him.

A49: How have you been working on your development and strength training during the pandemic?
JR: I have been working out at a gym near me called Torque Performance Monday-Friday, then depending on how I feel on the weekend I will train at my house Saturday and maybe Sunday. They have took my training to a different level compared to what I have been doing on my own. I also go up to Greensboro when I can for speed training at a place called Will Bradley Sports Performance. I have been going to him for a little over than a year and he has also helped tremendously. Before it got cancelled I also had a 7 on 7 team I was on called DOB elite and now I can say confidently that I know much more about defensive coverages and route running than I ever knew before.

A49: When are you looking to enroll?
JR: I’m going to enroll sometime in the summer. It was a day too late to change my schedule to be able to enroll early after Charlotte offered me, but I also want to be able to go play my senior season and have a chance to play with my guys one more time and hopefully do something special.

A49: Do you know what you're looking to study once enrolled?
JR: I’m looking to study something in finance or accounting because I don’t mind working with numbers and it comes pretty easy to me.

A49: In addition to Charlotte, what other programs have been recruiting you the hardest lately?
JR: I was never recruited very hard, but some schools that talked to me and checked up on me were Coastal Carolina, Campbell, and VMI.

49: How would you best describe your style of play?
JR: I would describe me as a quick shifty receiver that doesn’t have the fastest speed (which I’m working hard on ?) but is going to run a great route every time and come down with the ball.

A49: Any message you'd like to share with Niner Nation?
JR: And to Niner Nation, I’m ready to get to work and keep this program going in the right direction like this team has been doing since they started!! Truly the best fan base in America.
