He’s a B1G addition, probably not the last
Earlier today Nikhai Hill-Green announced his entry into the transfer portal. The 6’2, 232 pounds Linebacker wasted little time and announced his transfer to Charlotte this evening on Instagram.
Hill-Green is someone I fully expected Charlotte to pursue, but I did not anticipate a decision this quickly from him. He redshirted in 2020, which wouldn’t have counted against him anyways, played in 14 games in 2021, including 6 starts while playing on special teams as well. He missed this past season in its entirety due to a “soft-tissue” injury, and was expected to compete for a starting job with the Wolverines for the 2023 season. Instead he’ll be donning the green and white for his former prep head coach Biff Poggi at Jerry’s Place.
Due to his redshirt and injury this past season, Hill-Green could have up to 3 seasons to play at Charlotte beginning this fall. And if you are curious about his health, he was a full participant this spring in Ann Arbor and played in their spring game.
Expect there the be more portal activity in and out of Charlotte. The portal never stops.
