Charlotte’s staff has lost a 2024 commitment from South Gwinnett (GA) High School Edge prospect, Malik Moses. Moses is currently an unranked prospect, and he held offers from: Charlotte, UCF, UAB, Troy, WKU, Liberty, JMU and others.
With Moses moving on, Charlotte currently has 17 commitments in this class, which includes 1 JUCO commitment, the rest are currently from HS prospects. Out of this 17, there are 2 current defensive line commits remaining: Kainoa Davis and Kendal Brown, both are three-star prospects on 247 Sports.
This marks the fourth decommitment in this cycle for Charlotte to back off their commitment. To date, only one of these has committed elsewhere (Daniel Evert, Temple). You can see these decommits here.
My takeaway
Decommits are a way of life, and there are many nuances to them: recruits have a change of heart, they didn’t perform up to expectations and staffs move on, sometimes a mutual split, academics, etc. With 17 current commits, Charlotte’s likely nearing the upper end of what they will take from non-transfers in this class.
Recruiting during the season has been really quiet for Charlotte, but that won’t last much longer. Once the season is over, official visits will be ramping up for this staff, and look for December to be a chaotic frenzy of activity. You’ll have players hitting the portal, visits from HS, JUCO and portal prospects, and staff changes.
As a friendly reminder, the early signing period for Football is December 20-23 for HS prospects and JUCO athletes can sign December 20th through January 15th. Portal transfers generally try to enroll in the Spring semester, which varies by school. Charlotte’s Spring semester starts January 10th, and the last day to add is January 17th.
After a long prayer and talks with my family, I have decided that I will be de-committing and reopening my recruitment at this time .๐๐๐พ #TTP
