The visitor list has a heavy-DMV area slant

Biff Poggi and his staff are about to embark on a chaotic few weeks. Monday, December 5th will unleash the fury of the Transfer Portal. Charlotte already has several roster casualties: Elijah Spencer (WR), Grant DuBose (WR), Taylor Thompson (TE), and Johnny Martin (RB). You may be thinking: those are best pass-catchers Agent 49, what's going to happen? The portal shall giveth and taketh, this is the way.

Charlotte has offered FIU Wide Receiver transfer Tyrese Chambers, he's a name to keep an eye on to help bolster newly named WR Coach Mike Hartline's room. Chambers is a Baltimore, Maryland kid, and Biff Poggi definitely carries weight in that area. After writing this last night, Chambers proceeded to post new offers from Maryland and Colorado.

We're going to see it flexed, repeatedly, with DMV area kids. Check out the tweet below from Bowie State's Wide Receivers Coach Douglas McNeil:

Enough chit-chat, let's talk visitors

I've heard of 17 slated official visitors so far for the Tuesday-Thursday visit period, and I won't be surprised if more names emerge. It's always a fluid situation, and then you could likely see more over the upcoming weekend. I'll break the visitors down into 3 categories: current commitments, transfer portal visitors, and JUCO/HS prospects.

COMMITS

Randy Fields Jr. - UT Martin/West Virginia transfer - WR
Fields spent 3 seasons at WVU (including the 2020 season that doesn't count against eligibility) and 2 at UTM. He should have 1 season here at Charlotte. He has 21 catches for 221 yards and 1 touchdown with the Skyhawks. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Jalen Carter - Fresno City JUCO - Defensive Line
Carter, a 6'6 250 defensive line commit, has spent 2 seasons at Fresno City JUCO. Over the course of 2 seasons he amassed 45 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Luke Hill - former Oregon signee - Cornerback
Hill has a backstory, you can google it, but there isn't much info after the original charges. With that out of the way, Hill was a top 200 recruit out of St. Frances Academy and signed with Oregon but never made it to campus. He does have Contra Costa College (JUCO) listed in his HUDL, but their website doesn't list a roster for 2022 and he doesn't show in the stats. Sounds like he'd have at least 3 seasons of eligibility. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

TRANSFERS

Demon Clowney - Ole Miss - Edge (has since committed)
Clowney was a 4-star prospect out of St. Frances Academy before going to Ole Miss. Clowney was originally going to LSU before they pulled the scholarship. During his 3 years in Oxford, Clowney played a little over 100 snaps for the Rebels.

Zion Shockley - Maryland - Edge (has since committed)
Spent 2 seasons with the Terps, including a redshirt season in 2021, so he should have 3 seasons of eligibility wherever he lands. Snaps were minimal for Shockley, around 30 or so in just 4 contests. Zion was a highly recruited 3 star and attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Ja'Khi Green - Maryland - Tackle
Green, could have 3 seasons due to COVID + redshirt. He hasn't played much for the Terps, but new OC Mike Miller should have a great feel for his potential. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Terrance "TJ" Butler - Maryland - Edge (has since committed)
Former 3-star prospect that had offers from Tennessee, Michigan, BC, FIU, Michigan State, Syracuse and Minnesota. Should have 3 seasons remaining. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Breon Noel - Saint Frances University - Defensive Back (has since committed)
Does not look like he played in 2022, unsure if injury or not. In 2021 he played 400+ snaps and had a 72.8 grade at PFF, which makes me think he was hurt this year. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Al-Ma'hi Ali - Saint Frances University - Defensive Back (has since committed)
Started out at ODU before redshirting and transferring to SFU. Posted a 73.5 at PFF and played over 500 snaps. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Emmanuel Balogun - Marshall - Defensive Line
Spent 2 seasons with the Herd, played just over 200 snaps. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Tyler Thomas - Grambling - Offensive Line (has since committed)
Started out at Kent State in 2020, then transferred to Grambling where he has played over 1,100 snaps in 2 seasons, posting a 64.4 this year and a 69.8 last season. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Andrew Adair - JMU - Guard (has since committed)
Started out at Liberty where he appeared in 9 games as a true Freshman. Appeared in 2 games at JMU this year. Attended St. Frances Academy in Maryland.

Terron Kellman - Northern Illinois - Running Back (has since committed)
Looks like he redshirted this season. Was a 3 star recruit out of St. Frances Academy and had offers from Georgia Tech, Charlotte, Kansas, Arkansas State, Minnesota, WKU and UMass.

Sam Thomas - former Kent State? - Linebacker (has since committed)
Unsure of all the details tied to a "Sam Thomas" -- working to get more clarity here, but didn't want to hold up sharing this post.

JUCO + HS PROSPECTS

Durell Robinson - Boston College commit - Running Back (has since decommitted from BC)
Attends St. Frances Academy, and has a loaded offer list. ESPN rates him as a 4-star prospect.

Kameron Howard - St. Frances Academy - Safety (has since committed)
Has offers from Memphis, ODU, Charlotte, Buffalo, Marshall and others.

Jonathan Wallace - JUCO? - Defensive Line (has since committed)
Wallace was at Holmes CC in 2021 but I can't find where spent this season. He's a mammoth of a human at 6'1 375. In 2021 he had 21 tackles and a sack.
