Coveted Top 200 prospect Artavius Jones visited the 704 this past weekend
I had previously reported about 3 official visitors this past weekend for Charlotte Football ($), but it looks like the biggest name of all snuck in to the city for his official, Artavius Jones. Jones is a 6’4, 285 pounds defensive lineman from Blountstown (FL). Charlotte’s Defensive Line coach Wayne Dorsey was able to get the highly-recruited prospect into CLT for an official visit.
Jones is rated as the 123rd best prospect in the nation by 247Sports (175th by On3), has offers from a ton of programs fro across the collegiate landscape: Charlotte, Miami, UCF, Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, ECU, Mississippi State, FAU, Jackson State and others. Jones had an official visit to UCF on June 2 an done slated for June 23 (per 247Sports), and currently has no crystal ball activity. The RPM (Recruiting Prediction Machine at On3) currently favors Miami to land Artavius Jones. The RPM is based on a variety of data points, including expert predictions and machine learning algorithms.
Biff Poggi and staff aren’t here to be complacent and to mull around with a slow build. Artavius Jones is a major recruit, and Charlotte was able to bring him for a visit. They won’t be happy with just doing that. Biff’s expectations are crystal clear, hewants to compete for AAC Championships and ultimately a spot in the CFB Playoff. These are the types of recruits his staff will need to target, and land, in order to achieve his goals.
