Building the future, piece-by-piece
This past weekend Charlotte Football and Biff Poggi landed 3 commitments, two of those in the 2024 cycle and their first 2025 commitment. The Class of 2024 for Charlotte Football now includes 18 known commitments. If you look at the 2024 tracker you might notice that Mustafa Hausmann, a 6’6 350 pound prospect from Cologne Crockodiles (Germany), is no longer listed. He’s now on campus and enrolled for the Fall 2023 semester.
The 2024 class is likely to slow down soon. I feel that 20 commitments would be a big number for HS prospects, you have to factor in the transfer portal and it’s hard to imagine less than 10 players added that way in each class. Those numbers will likely be moving targets until signing day gets closer. The staff will have a better idea of whats in the Judy Rose Football Center after evaluating game tape from the upcoming season.
2024 additions
Charlotte landed a 704 commitment from DeQuinder Williams, a West Charlotte High School product. His commitment was announced on his Instagram following the season opener. Originally his commentment was via a Story, but you can see him in an All-in-C hat here). Williams is listed at 6’0 170 and hold offers from: Boston College, Appalachian State, JMU, Temple, ODU, Liberty, Marshall, Jackson State, Coastal Carolina, Army and others. Williams is the second Mecklenburg County prospect to commit, joining Mallard Creek offensive lineman, Umar Rockhead. Catch DeQuinder’s Junior HUDL tape here.
Charlotte’s second commitment for the 2024 class over the weekend came from Peach State product Darius Wallace (Peachtree Ridge HS). Listed as a Linebacker at 6’3 and 220, Wallace has a great frame already and holds offers from: Syracuse, Western Kentucky, Navy, Bowling Green, Air Force, and several FCS programs. You can see Wallace’s commitment post here on Instagram. You can stream his Junior tape on HUDL.
2025 gets first commit
Peewee Jones, formerly of West Charlotte HS, committed to Charlotte, marking the programs first commitment for the 2025 class. Jones is now attending Cardinal Hayes in the Bronx. Jones is listed at 6’1, 185 on 247 Sports and plays cornerback.
