As many of you may know, Biff Poggi and his Saint Frances Academy squad were previously the focus of an HBO Original documentary called “The Cost of Winning.” The documentary had 4 episodes with approximately 2 hours of content.
HBO is currently on Charlotte’s campus filming Biff Poggi, staff, and Charlotte Football student-athletes as they embark on building the foundation for his program. It’s a critical time in the program’s young history as the Charlotte 49ers prepare to enter the American Athletic Conference next season, while looking for their second bowl appearance since joining the FBS ranks.
Those of you that watched The Cost of Winning but aren’t familiar with Charlotte will recognize some Saint Frances Academy players that have rejoined Poggi at Charlotte: Demon Clowney (transferred in from Ole Miss) and Jonathan “Big Wall” Wallace (Holmes JUCO transfer) are on campus now, and JUCO Defensive Back Alonzo “Ace” Colvin is currently committed to the program but has not yet signed or enrolled.
While it remains to be seen the number of episodes this documentary will have, or how many seasons it could span, I’ve heard upwards of 12 episodes are currently planned.
