Dacquari Wilson, NC A&T

Experience and potential coming to the Offensive line

As many of you may know by now, multi-year starter an Offensive Line (OL) anchor D’Mitri Emmanuel has entered the transfer portal. Since entering he’s announced offers to Boston College and Miami (FL). I keep waiting to see if Florida State enters the mix with Alex Atkins knowing first-hand the kind of player Emmanuel is. And now Emmanuel has committed to FSU as of this evening.

Emmanuel’s departure means that Will Healy and OL Coach Pete Rossomando are replacing multiple contributors from this past seasons: Emmanuel, Hunter Kelly, Chibueze Nwanna, and Dejan Rasuo. On the bright side, this is the first time CLT will have the same OL position coach for consecutive seasons since the tragic loss of Phil Ratliff back in 2015.

This past week 2 transfer portal prospects announced their commitment to Charlotte: Dacquari “Dac” Wilson (6’3 | 300 | NC A&T) and Michael Statham (6’7 | 370 | Pittsburgh). Wilson and Statham are two very different adds, Wilson has played almost 1500 snaps while Statham hasn’t played a snap yet.

Due to his experience and performance at NC A&T, I’d look for Wilson to likely be Charlotte’s starting Center this fall in his only season here in the 704. There is some more info on Wilson’s NC A&T performance for annual subscribers on Transfer Portal PFF Insights channel on Discord.

As I listed earlier, Statham is a massive human being, which can be a good/bad thing. Some guys are simply too large and aren’t nimble enough to be effective. Seems that Statham has some twich and is the type of big-man you want to have on your OL. Clearly at his size he projects as an offensive tackle (OT) and Charlotte’s starting Right OT will be graduating after this upcoming season.

Coming out of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, MD, Statham was a highly-recruited 3-star prospect with offers from: Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, WVU, Syracuse and others.

The frame and potential is there for Statham, time will tell if his production can match it.
