Biff Poggi Contract Details

Key Numbers

  • 5 year deal expires on December 31st, 2027
  • $500,000 base salary + $500,000 via Athletic Foundation funds = $1,000,000 annual salary
  • Assistant + S&C pool = $1,625,000 per year
  • Support Staff (with benefits) = $507,000 per year
  • Support Staff (without benefits) = $124,500

If Biff Poggi is fired without cause, Charlotte will owe him base salary for the remainder of his agreement.

  • $900,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2023
  • $700,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2024
  • $500,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2025
  • $300,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2026
  • $100,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2027

Athletic Incentives

Final Top 25 AP or CFP Ranking – $ 75,000

Win over a Top 25 Power 5 Team – $ 25,000

In any year that the football team participates in a postseason game or playoff, Coach will receive supplemental compensation as follows:

Conference Championship Game Appearance – $ 50,000

Conference Championship Game Win – $ 50,000

At-Large Bowl Selection – $ 75,000

College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection (*)(**) -1st Round – $ 250,000

College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection (*)(**) – Quarterfinals – $ 375,000

New Year’s Six Bowl Selection as top Group of 5 representative (non-CFP) – $ 100,000

CFP Semifinal Appearance** – $ 500,000

CFP National Championship Appearance** $ 750,000

National Championship Win** – $ 1,000,000

Conference Coach of the Year – $ 25,000

National Coach of the Year – $ 50,000

*When CFP expands to 12 teams
**CFP bonuses not cumulative.
